Kitsilano Yacht Club is home to racing sailors

Kitsilano Yacht Club was founded in the summer of 1934 to foster amateur yachting on English Bay in Vancouver and encourage competition at the highest level. The club has been operating continuously since that date from its location near Kits pool, and is home to many active one-design sailing fleets, including the Star, 5o5, Martin 242, Lightning, and Cal 20.

KYC's Races:

Thursday night racing typically starts in late April and carries through to September. Dinner follows in the Clubhouse (reservations required).
Passage Island Race is open to all non-motorized watercraft on the last Sunday of June.
Kits Invitational is the hallmark Race of KYC, taking place the second weekend of July.
Lawrence Cup is the last Sunday of September and is open to all non-motorized watercraft.
Bluenose is the grand finale of the BC Racing Circuit and up to 13 classes compete! [Optis (all 4 classes), Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser full Rig, 420, RS Feva, 29ers, 5o5 and Cal20].

Come and join in the racing and become a better sailor in a community of sailors! If you haven't raced before and are a bit nervous, join our Learn to Race program. This is currently on hold due to PHO regulations. Feel free to let us know you are interested, and we will contact you once we can run this program.

Kitsilano Yacht Club is also the home of outrigger canoe and SUP racing teams. Events happen frequently at Kitsilano Yacht Club, and range from weekly evening races to annual regattas that bring an international fleet.
